Learning to program through video game creation workshop
The Collaborative Media Center hosted a workshop on April 18, 2016 to expose students to programming through video game creation. Professor Basawapatna led students in creating Dance Dance Revolution employing the End-User programming tool AgentCubes online and creating a peripheral dance controller using a Makey Makey USB keyboard. Students explored how to express logic rules computationally as well as experimented with ways to layout and interface an external devices to enhance the game-playing experience. The ultimate hope of this workshop is that CMC students, who may have not coded before, might see that programming is not only fun and challenging, but also, an avenue of expression they can use in further endeavors.
